Lime Oil – Citrus aurantifolia – is a high quality citrus oil obtained by cold pressing fresh, sound Lime peel (Tahitian style character). The recovered oil is cold stabilised to remove wax and stored under cool conditions.
With a very delicate citrus aroma, this popular oil is used for blending with many other essential oils like lavender, Ylang Ylang, Sandalwood and Buddhawood.
Lime Oil is known to stimulate and energise the brain and can be emotionally uplifting if inhaled from a vaporiser. This versatile oil can also enhance the effect of emotional healing especially during grieving.
It can assist in boosting the immune system when effected by coughs and colds and is used as an additive to chemical free cleaning products – like other citrus oils, it has excellent cleaning properties.
Lime Oil is to some degree photo-toxic so be aware that when applied to the skin, it may increase sensitivity to the sun for some people.
The oil is non toxic and non irritant but always apply a skin test first before using it topically. Store in a cool dry place and keep out of the reach of small children.
N.B. Our lime oil comes with a certificate for consumption meaning that it has been certified for use in food. On this occasion it is important to note that to place a few drops of Lime oil in cold water and swallow as a drink is not appropriate. Cold pressed oils like essential oils are extremely concentrated. Oil does not dissolve in water so by taking this lime oil in water as a drink, you are swallowing pure globules of oil which eventually will affect the stomach and liver. The digestive system does not comply well with highly concentrated oil and you may become ill, especially if you give this drink to small children.
