Kumquat Oil – Citrus japonica – is cold pressed from the sweet skins of the small fruits of the Kumquat tree, native to the Asia Pacific region. These tasty fruits are now found in many countries as they grow well in warm temperate climates.
Kumquat Oil has a wild citrus aroma with gentle undertones of orange. The shape of the fruits can be seen as little oranges.
An exciting citrus oil which joins our citrus collection to energise, assist in immunity, beautiful in a diffuser and an attractive additive to skin and body care. This oil has been used by generations past and deserves the compliment of use in years to come.
As our Kumquat oil can be ingested, it may assist in enhancing energy levels in times of low moods. There are many documented benefits of Kumquat Essential Oil like assisting in weight loss, regulating digestion, antiageing, however we do not endorse these qualities due to the lack of knowledge of dosage levels and the need to include the flesh of the fruit to enjoy it’s full benefits and vitamins.
It is no wonder the skins of the Kumquat fruit make such a special essential oil as they are used in cooking for flavour, jams, preserves due to their sweetness. When washed, the whole fruit including the skin can be very tasty.
This Kumquat oil comes with a food grade certificate so is safe to use as an extra flavouring in food. However, it is not advisable to drink in cold water as the oil is highly concentrated and does not dissolve – it will sit on the top and you will be ingesting pure oil which can damage organs over time if used often and in high dosages. If you wish to ingest, do so with a solubiliser so the essential oil dissolves.
Keep your oil in a cool place and out of the reach of children. If pregnant seek medical advice before using. Can be phototoxic so do not use if entering a solarium or for long periods in the sun.
Major plant chemical compounds: Limonene, alpha-pinene, monoterpenes.
