Eucalyptus Peppermint Essential Oil – Eucalyptus dives – is a medium sized broad leafed tree of the Myrtacea family growing predominantly in New South Wales around the Great Dividing Range and northern Victoria.
Peppermint eucalyptus trees have been planted in other southern states as a farm forestry project, where integrating the trees with agricultural products work as a ‘win-win’ for both the environment and for commercial benefits. Whilst addressing soil degradation and sequestering carbon, the oil production from the leaves of the Eucalyptus dives brings added income for land owners and their communities.
Peppermint eucalyptus oil is steam distilled from the leaves and twigs, its yield is high and has a history of many versatile uses. This species of eucalyptus is high in piperitone which has previously been used in toothpaste and because of its peppermint/astringent flavour.
Heritage Oils products utilising Eucalyptus Peppermint oil with its astringent aroma are a natural cleansing soap, shampoo and conditioner and as a cleaning agent blended with Rosalina oil.
The light peppermint note with the common eucalyptus aroma acts as a pleasant decongestant with its medium percentage of cineole. Blended with a woody oil like Buddhawood or Sandalwood makes a refreshing blend and also for meditation, a pleasant atmosphere when vaporised.
Eucalyptus dives blends well with citrus oils as a cleansing oil for floors and bathrooms. Works beautifully on chrome and where greazy films are left behind in sinks and porcelain.
As with all eucalyptus oils Eucalyptus Peppermint Essential Oil is not to be taken or for use on small children. Always use a carrier oil if applied to the skin. Keep out of the reach of children and store in a cool, dry place. Seek advice for use from a clinical aromatherapist or medical practitioner if pregnant.
Major plant chemical compounds of Peppermint Eucalyptus are piperitone and cineole
