Buddha Wood (Buddhawood) Essential Oil – Eremophila mitchellii – often referred to as the Australian Desert Rosewood is a little known but long-lasting pure essential oil of exclusive quality.
Buddhawood Essential Oil is distilled from the Buddha Wood tree, a resinous small tree found growing in arid regions of north western New South Wales, southern/central Queensland and northern South Australia. Known to be an invasive plant, it is readily available from farms and natural resource managed areas where work is ongoing to improve the rural landscape.
The Buddha Wood tree is sustainably harvested and transported to South Australia where the wood and bark is steam distilled for it’s unique essential oil of superb quality and distributed globally. Heritage Oils has been directly involved with the distillation and distribution of Buddhawood essential oil, guaranteeing it’s purity and high quality.
Buddhawood essential oil is quite viscous and sometimes requires a larger pipette to extract the oil from its bottle as over time it can become quite sticky. To avoid the stickiness, don’t store your Buddhawood essential oil too cold. Buddhawood has a unique aroma with multiple undertones of wood, citrus and earthy flavours. The oil is often used by religious personnel for meditation but is better known for its fixative qualities in perfumes, hence the oil’s other name of ‘False Sandalwood’.
Used topically, Buddhawood oil is a perfect compliment to a beard oil especially when blended with a citrus oil like lime. Or used in a soap blended with West Australian Sandalwood, is a great way to close the day in an evening shower. Just use it in a diffuser with citrus for a relaxing moment.
Our supplies of Buddhawood essential oil are good as it is distilled all year round in order to keep up with demand as this oil is becoming more recognised.
