Aniseed Myrtle Essential Oil – Syzygium anisatum or (backhousia anisata) – Is a little known Australian essential oil which is steam distilled from the twigs and lush green leaves of the rare Aniseed Myrtle plant found growing in the warm sub-tropical rainforest of eastern Australia mostly New South Wales. Often referred to as the aniseed tree or ringwood.
Now cultivated in sustainable managed plantations, Aniseed Myrtle gets its name from the resemblance the essential oil has to aniseed with its aroma profile tending to be very similar to aniseed with a spicy peppery lemon note. Very unusual and very unique.
Aniseed Myrtle Essential Oil is a new oil joining our Australian collection. The large tree is very ornamental and popular for its bush food. Not only do the leaves deliver a beautiful essential oil, they are also used as bush food for the production of native tea which is available from the Bush Foods businesses..
