WA Sandalwood Nut Oil – Background Facts

From around 5 years of age sandalwood trees produce nuts that contain a high proportion of oil. Analysis of West Australian sandalwood nut oil shows that it is rich in Ximenynic acid (XA), known to assist in the protection of the skin by improving elasticity, reducing inflammation, whilst stimulating blood circulation to give an overall healthier look. (1, 2).

Amongst the many beneficial fatty acids found in WA Sandalwood Nut Oil, Ximenynic acid (also known as Santalbic acid) makes up roughly a 3rd of the total composition, making it one of the highest levels present in any other natural oil. Another important fatty acid, oleic acid makes up around a further 50%.

The fatty acids and molecular composition of Sanoytal™ WA Sandalwood Nut Oil, makes it a very attractive ingredient for use in both skin and hair products. The oil helps to preserve the integrity of the cell wall, has a restructuring effect and also an anti-aging effect on the skin. Sanoytal™ WA sandalwood nut oil is nourishing and moisturizing, and it softens and revitalizes the skin naturally (1).
